Oxford MFE Kira Questions

Hi,
I am applying to Oxford MFE and will soon have to do the Kira interview. Would appreciate if anyone shared the questions they were asked either specifically in the Oxford MFE process or during a Kira interview in general. Cheers!

Based on the most helpful WSO content, here’s what you need to know about the Oxford MFE Kira interview and Kira interviews in general:

  1. Oxford MFE Kira Interview:

    • The Oxford MFE Kira interview is generally less technical compared to traditional in-depth interviews. It focuses more on behavioral and fit-based questions.
    • Expect questions like:
      • "Why Oxford and why the MFE program?"
      • "What are your career goals, and how does the MFE align with them?"
      • "Tell me about a time you worked in a team and faced challenges. How did you handle it?"
      • "What leadership experience do you have, and how has it shaped you?"
    • Be prepared to elaborate on your essays and application, as they may want to see consistency in your responses.
  2. General Kira Interview Questions:

    • Kira interviews often include a mix of behavioral, situational, and motivation-based questions. Common examples include:
      • "Why are you a good fit for this program?"
      • "Describe a time you had to adapt quickly to a new situation."
      • "What is a recent event in the financial markets that caught your attention, and why?"
      • "How do you handle working with people who have different opinions or approaches?"
    • Some programs may also include a short video or written response component to assess your communication skills.
  3. Preparation Tips:

    • Research the Program: Know Oxford’s MFE program inside out—its structure, unique features, and how it aligns with your goals.
    • Practice Behavioral Questions: Use the STAR (Situation, Task, Action, Result) framework to structure your answers.
    • Mock Interviews: Practice with a timer to simulate the Kira format, as responses are often time-limited.
    • Stay Calm and Authentic: The Kira platform is designed to assess your personality and fit, so focus on being genuine and clear in your responses.

Good luck with your Oxford MFE Kira interview! If you need more resources, check out WSO threads or guides on behavioral and fit interview prep.

Hi, I will do the Kira interview for Oxford's MFE too soon. I think there is no technical/ finance questions it is basically a lot of fit. Basically be able to answer to questions such as "tell me about a time where you took responsibility for an outcome" or "how do you cope with failure" things like that from what I have read. Now, the written question is harder and is a "give me your thoughts on..." question. Can be very diverse, and can have nothing to do with finance/eco. Good luck!

Hi, if you completed the interview already can you confirm that there's no Econ questions? A couple of people I spoke to talked about getting a macroeconomic related questions; not sure what the exact questions were. I just wanted to know because my background is not business/econ adjacent

I’ve heard that there might be some weird Oxford-type questions, like “is complexity a sign of sophistication?” But others say that there are only normal behavioural questions. Does anyone have any info on this?
