Post-MBA exit ops w/ portfolio analytics/product strategy experience?

I would love to gain some insight into the typical opportunities that people can pursue post an M7 MBA after spending 3-4 years at a large asset management firm (>$1T AUM), particularly in the field of product strategy/ portfolio analytics. The work includes risk factor modeling, portfolio optimizations, implementing the firm's products into client portfolios and assessing the analytics, asset class commentary, etc. Is it common to remain in a similar role, or is there a possibility to transition to a more portfolio management (PM) role? Moreover, is it feasible to attract attention from private equity (PE) or venture capital (VC) firms with this type of experience and an M7 MBA? Thanks for the help everyone.
