Post-MBA (HSW), interested in career in finance

I didn't know anything about finance going into my MBA -- largely my own fault, but I just never envisioned being interested in it at all. I come from a computer science background (was a software engineer at FAANG for a few years, but hated the work/the culture/the people)

I did pretty well in some of my finance classes (accounting, corp fin, fixed income, valuations, etc.), and with the tech job market being the way that it is + my general lack of enthusiasm in staying there, I'm wondering if there is a world in which I can somehow pivot into a finance career post-MBA. I went to one of HSW, if this helps. I'm just embarrassed that it took me this long to figure it out, but I kind of needed to take classes and learn in order to see if it was something I was interested in. Genuinely, I'm worried about even asking anyone at this point about potential opportunities, since I never wanted to do banking (I'm nearing 30 years old and didn't think it was smart at the time I was entering business school).

I figured I'd ask anonymously. From what little I know, I think equity research would be the best fit for me in that I think the pace of the work/depth of the work is what I'm looking for, but I feel as though these jobs are pretty impossible to get without following a structured recruiting process. Realize I'm very likely to get roasted posting this, but not sure how to explore these opportunities/have this conversation otherwise.

I'm still interviewing, but likely will have an offer for an ops role at a startup in NYC. Just feel like I accidentally stumbled into the wrong path. (I am graduating this May)
