Pre-University IB prospective needs the cold hard truth
So in high school I had huge issues at home dealing with my mom and family and fucked up when it came to my gpa. Over my junior and senior year I managed to bring it up to a 2.8. My ACT is a 29. I recently got accepted to Baruch undergrad and I will most likely attend. I want to enter the world of IB and from what i've looked up it seems harder from Baruch than from a target (obviously).
Should I or can I successfully transfer in two years to a target school? What schools should I research? What courses should I take and what should I focus on??
Within your first two years, you will be mainly taking required liberal arts classes. i.e Things that aren't directly linked to your major. With that said, you should take your economics classes and anything that can transfer over to your target school. I highly recommend transferring but at the same time IBD (with the right stats and grit) is possible from Baruch, you will just have to be the cream of the crop.
OP, I think the main focus for you right now is to get a high GPA once you start Baruch (3.75+), get involved in any or all organizations on campus (Investment Management Group's Feeder program, Wall Street Club, DSP/AKPSI/BAP) Then after a year or two, re-evaluate your position and whether or not you want to transfer.
