Programming Course

One of my desires is to learn C++ and a few other programming languages such as Python, SQL, etc. I have thought about taking courses online, but given my little knowledge, I think I might do better in a classroom setting. Currently have been out of school for a bit, but was wondering what is the best approach to accomplishing this objective. I reside in NYC so I have fairly easy access to NYC schools. Was wondering if anyone has taken a programming course at one of these NYC schools without actually being enrolled. As of now I just want the programming knowledge and don't need to add it to my degree.

Also any thoughts on whether Baruch, Stern or some other schoo?. Fyi, my programming knowledge is very very little (close to zilch). Thanks and have an awesome weekend.

probably a naive question, but if i'm not doing anything quant related, is there any reason to learn programming in finance? the reason i ask is because i've always had somewhat of an interest and some of my comp sci college friends make it sound cool.

Remember, once you're inside you're on your own. Oh, you mean I can't count on you? No. Good!

Don't pay to learn programming... Buy a book. Read it and work through exercises. When you feel you have some the basic down, find a project that is meaningful to you. Work on that exercise. When you've solved it, look at it again and see how to improve it. Find a new project.

You won't learn to program unless you're actively doing it.

And snake, learn VBA... If you work in Excel, it's very valuable.

I'll do what I can to help ya'll. But, the game's out there, and it's play or get played.
