Quick Question - Balance sheet question
Hi, I just have a quick question.
If you have the following balance sheet:
Assets:
-Cash and cash equivalents
-Cash and securities segregated and on deposit for regulatory and other purposes
-Financial instruments and other inventory positions owned
-Securities received as collateral
-Collateralized agreements
-Receivables
-Property, equipment and leasehold improvements (net of accumulated depreciation
-Other assets
-Identifiable intangible assets and goodwill
anf
Liabilities+SHE
-Short-term borrowings and current portion of long-term borrowings
-Financial instruments and other inventory positions sold but not yet purchased
-Obligation to return securities received as collateral
-Collateralized financings
-Payables
-Accrued liabilities and other payables
-Deposits at banks / Deposit liabilities at banks
-Long-term borrowings
Share Holders Equity...
The current assets are only the cash and cash equivalents and everything which is subsumed under receivables and current liabilities are short trm borrowing and everything in the payables category.
Am I correct or am I missing something.
Thanks
Current assets are any assets that can be converted to cash within 1 year. Inventory and receivables typically fall under this category. Not sure about "securities received as collateral", but they are probably also short-term securities. Usually the balance sheet has it broken up though between current and non-current assets.
Usually that is correct, sadly not in Lehman´s case. Anyway, thanks for the quick answer.
i agree with banker88. it's usually cash/equivalent + inventory. the rest seem like long term assets, and as of "securities received as collateral" depends on its term/ what that is. it seems to match the entry "obligation to return securities received as collateral" under liabilities though.
so, since the balance sheet is pretty short and sweet, and NOT broken into current & non-current for you... ...is this your intro accounting homework?
come on kid...
