Realistic chance for M7
Just wanted to drop my quick stats to look at my chances at M7 BSchool, I know there’s a lot more that’s factored into these decisions but for I just want to see where I sit.
GMAT: 730
Undergrad: Top 15-25 private school, business major
Career: Current intern at BB IBD
GPA: 3.78
Refs: a professor I have a great connection with
Race: Indian/South Asian
ECs: student leader at a few cultural clubs, VP at investment club, on-campus research, volunteering
Apply to those early acceptance program during your sr year of college. You should land interviews into at least 1 of them.
Fairly good odds especially for deferred. Although you should know that IBD applicants are overrepresented in MBA admissions so you are going to need something to set you apart. Since they have a quota for bankers & consultants & they can discern prestige with respect to whether you were at PJT vs. UBS
Since I can't really change the prestige of the bank I'm at would you recommend I improve ECs, GMAT or GPA?

Snarky comments aside haha, obviously try to improve every other aspect of your application to cover up for the part that might be lacking. Same goes for every other application for pretty much anything.
Very high chance for M7 and I'd say your profile is worth throwing in apps to HSW
admit to mid tier m7 for their deferred program and i saw the profiles of a lot of the admits - pretty much all the ppl accepted that were bankers came from EB (PJT, EVR, LAZ) or top 3 BB. just letting u know
Didn’t know they cared that much about prestige of bank, I’d say I’m at a mid tier BB think Barclays UBS, BAML
considering probably 40% of the deferred class is coming from MBB i think they do care about prestige lol
What's mid tier and lower tier M7 haha
lower tier imo - kellogg and cbs
mid tier - booth and sloan
high tier - HSW
deferred seems unlikely if youre at a barclays/ubs/baml
apply to get practice for the real thing down the line, at which point youll have a much better chance, esp if you score a decent exit from banking first
Should I take the risk and re-recruit for MBB then, although our school isn’t a top target there. Are there other firms I could get in that would improve my chances?
