Rejected from McCombs, but accepted into Econ as second-choice major. Is going to UT Austin worth it for jobs in Finance (IB, Financial Analyst)?

I'm very regretful and devastated to say that I was rejected from McCombs as an in-resident auto-admit, top 4%, and 1360 SAT, with extracurriculars. I was given my second-choice major, Economics in the school of liberal arts.

I was aiming towards a Finance degree in McCombs. My interests still lie in the areas of financial analysts, IB, and other related jobs in the finance field. There is the Business Economics Option Program (BEOP) that's offered for economics majors to pursue an Accounting Minor or Finance Minor or Wealth Management Minor through McCombs.

Would it still be worth going to UT-Austin having been rejected for my first-choice business major at McCombs?

I've heard of how difficult and ultra-competitive it is to internally or externally into McCombs. I just don't want to be stuck with an Econ degree in the unfortunate event that I'm not able to transfer into McCombs at my time at UT, and thus I wouldn't have access to, like you said, OCR. How does that work, by the way? Recruiters from major firms arriving in-person to the McComb's school to retrieve resumes and interested applciants, I assume?

Hello. I'm a senior applying to UT Austin at the moment, and I would like to go to McCombs. I have around the same SAT score as you with decent extracurriculars. I go to a private school, so we don't do class rank so there's no way to get auto accepted into UT Austin.

I intially thought I was going to apply to the Economics BS major first, as I didn't think I could get into McCombs. However, after talking with a college rep from UT, he reassured me that a lot of people get into Econ as their second major.

I was wondering three things. Did you go into the Econ program (if so how is it), could I get accpeted into McCombs with no class rank, and can I get into Econ as a second major without class rank. Thanks for your help, just trying to figure out what to do.
