Rice vs Georgetown vs USC vs Notre Dame vs NYU vs UF

Hi guys, I was recently admitted to all these schools and wanted to hear your thoughts on where to attend. My goal is to work in Investment Banking in a low cost of living, southern city such as Charlotte, Houston, or Tampa. I wouldn't mind working for a small boutique or in real estate, but I preferably want to start with a BB in banking.

Here's the total cost per year for me to attend each college.

Georgetown - 70k

NYU - 54k

UF - 0 (I have a full ride)

Rice - 43k

Notre Dame - 55k

USC - 53k

If I were to attend UF, my parents would give me the money they have saved up for college, which is about 130k. If I were to attend Rice, I would be able to graduate with no debt and potentially do internships during the school year but also have no savings left, and with these other schools I would have to incur at least some debt.

Given the cost, which would you recommend I attend? Additionally, while not as important to me as recruiting and cost, please factor in other things such as social life as I know that this will greatly affect my college experience.

Thank you and your advice is greatly appreciated.

Had a very similar situation. Parents has saved roughly ~130k. Ended up going with the 70k year a school. Despite placing, the finances are definitely stressful and will impact your ability to enjoy college, study abroad etc. I have worked nonstop through undergraduate and have been a resident assistant for 3 years and I will still graduate with 40-50k in debt.

It depends on your preference for location/culture but I think notre dame or NYU assuming stern would be your best bet purely through the lens of recruiting.

On campus recruiting and extracurricular involvement is very competitive (2-3 rounds of interviews resume drops, coffee chats etc to join clubs).

I found career center support lackluster but if you know what you want to do the name can carry you to first round interviews. Also helps with sophomore and freshman internships where you don’t have a lot of experience to speak to other than strength of undergraduate.

Obviously depends on what state you’re in but mine had essentially 0 placement. At my current school there’s probably 40+ students from my class going to BB’s and plenty of others at EB’s, MM’s, a few MF, and a handful in other private equity analyst programs.

Many come in freshman year with IB ambitions and others follow the tide so it’s tough to know how attributable it is to the institution or the environment it creates.

Idk I don't attend either. I would recommend trying to speak with students at those schools. My guess is stern has a lot more internal competition for investment banking roles and it is a much different college experience attending school in a dense urban city than going to school in Indiana. Notre Dame definitely has better school spirit. Its also catholic and a lot less diverse if that is important to you. You can make it work from either school but you should want to spend four years somewhere you'll be happy

Georgetown, UF, or Notre Dame. NYU you will hate yourself and it is super toxic. I'm a 1st year associate and I have met so many NYU alums who shit on their alma mater for being toxic and not an enjoyable experience at all. Georgetown or Notre Dame for NYC. Honestly, if you think you can be the best of the best at UF and stand out there, since you want to work in the south, go for it. But only if you really are sure you can be the best of the best.

USC and Rice aren't really on the same tier, mainly due to geography. Rice is great for Houston. USC for LA.
