RSM MSc Finance and Investments vs Imperial MSc Finance
Hi all,
I have received and offer for both RSM and Imperial. My question is which one should I take considering I would need a loan of over 65,000 euros and RSM I would only need 15,000 euros. Is Imperial worth that much more of a loan. My end goal is to land a job in the city S+T.
A friend of mine is in the exact same position .
Imperials advantage is not worth 65000 euros . It's more about what you will do next summer, CV in general .
Do you mind sharing your profile ?
Ya I am really not sure.
When I first received Imperial I was over the moon but now I am seriously contemplating not doing it unless I get some sort of scholarship.
If the ROI for Imperial is better I will gladly pay it as its a lifetime investment for me that I will reap for the rest of my life. Just looking for outside opinions too as my knowledge on this area is limited.
Sorry by profile what exactly do you mean? 1st Class honours student from well respected in Ireland Irish Uni. Spring week JPM S+T 6 month operations internship with international trading firm. GMAT 620 (Expected much better, applied for Imperial without GMAT)
Another option I'm looking at is deferring my offer. Due to only receiving a masters offer recently I didn't know whether to apply for grad jobs or summer internships so applied for grad jobs. If I deferred I could apply for summer internships for summer 2017 and travel the world which was my plan all along if I didn't receive an offer for a masters.
Imperial, Imperial, Imperial! RSM sucks, I told you!
Haha I know Chloe!! Trying to listen to as many voices as I can before committing myself to such a loan though!
If it was SSE instead of RSM, then I'd probably choose SSE because that program is better than Imperial. But it's not! If you want to work in London, then Imperial is no brainer. Not just London, Imperial name opens a lot of doors for you. For instance, even in Dubai and South East Asia, top UK schools like Oxbridge/LSE/LBS/Imperial are preferred and are in demand. The Europe job market sucks if you don't have their citizenship. Plus RSM is not good enough for London unlike some European schools like HEC, Boconni, and SSE. Even those schools are unknown outside of Europe, and UK.
Definitely go to Inperial.
I meant if you had already lined up a summer internship this summer it would not really be worth the debt.
Good luck !
cheers for advice also. You think its worth it over RSM if I don't have an internship also yes?
Should my opinion on this change post Brexit. I applied for this masters to land a job in London and thats why I accepted as it had a base there and would aid me on getting in the door. I have paid my deposit for Imperial but the said they return in outstanding circumstances of which I think this qualifies as one. If I knew jobs were going to Italy, Dublin etc I would of accepted my offers to Boconni, Smurfit UCD, or Rotterdam and not face half as much debt. Please someone advise me on this scenario. I am freaking out a small bit so looking for people more knowledgeable than me to aid.
Definitely. Plus London is losing a lot of jobs. summer internship shouldn't be a problem though. Just try hard to get one even if it's unpaid.
