Seeking Advice on Pursuing an MBA and Transitioning to Investment Banking

Good day, everyone,

I hope this message finds you well. This is my second post on this platform, and I’d appreciate any guidance you can offer. I’m currently a staff accountant in Manhattan, New York at a private company, which is not related to high finance. I’m considering pursuing an MBA to potentially pivot into investment banking.

I didn’t attend a target school for my undergrad, and my GPA was not strong due to personal reasons, which I fully acknowledge. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and quickly entered the workforce. Over time, I discovered a different side of finance that I find more compelling than accounting. Initially, I was interested in studying Physics and pursuing a career as a Quant, but I feel that may take too long to achieve. Currently, I’m working while pursuing a second degree in Physics from a mid-tier school. I’ve also taken some math courses and plan to add coding to my skill set soon.

I would greatly appreciate any advice on how to make my resume more appealing to M7 schools. Additionally, does the GMAT score carry more weight than the rest of my resume in this context?

Thank you in advance for your help and support!
