Should I go to western uni or a target in London

I graduated high school and got into a target, and I got accepted to study Econ at a target, but all my friends are going to ualberta. Unfortunately, I didn't get AEO from western. But I got into western uni. Western seems fun, but I guess I'll have to grind to get into Ivey. I don't want to screw myself and not get into Ivey and graduate with a useless western degree, so should I bite the bullet and go to England since it'll be easier to recruit for IB or grind to get info, Ivey. The UK target costs 136k cad. I have permanent UK worth authorization, but western seems way more fun. Are the opportunities in London far greater than those In Toronto?

Will there be a culture shock if I go to uni in the UK?

Culture shock? For fuck's sake, you are moving from Canada to the UK, not to Zimbabwe

“Destiny is a gift. Some go their entire lives, living existences of quiet desperation, never learning the truth that what feels as though a burden pushing down upon their shoulders is really a sense of purpose that lifts us to greater heights. Never forget that fear is but the precursor to valor, that to strive and triumph in the face of fear is what it means to be a hero. Don’t think. Become.”

So I’m essentially choosing between a full fledged target in another continent or a non target if I don’t get in ivey.

The reason that all of those anonymous monkeys are telling you "bump" is because the deal flow in London is far greater than in Toronto.

It's a case of risk aversion. Are you willing to take the risk that you do not get into Ivey after your 2(?) years in the econ program? No clue if econ itself is enough to recruit into Toronto IBD so maybe someone with more knowledge of the Toronto scene can chime in.

If you say London target I'm assuming you mean UCL/LSE for econ/econ related stuff? They are solid top tier targets and will get you into london IBD if you have a good CV. So that has to be a call you make.

The above is a non-issue if going to UK is significantly more expensive/you have to take on a lot of debt, in that case go to western.

There will not be a culture shock you will be going into London which is probably one of the most vibrant, fun, multi-cultural cities in the world so you can easily find opportunities to have fun and party (though it will cost $$$).

London deal flow and no. of analyst spots>>Toronto

There’s a good amount of AEO kids that lose their status (I believe 20%). I would try to network with people who got into Ivey without AEO to see the steps they took. It is totally doable, but you would need to definitely put in above average work and have a high GPA + join and excel within some student organizations (such as PBSN and whatever you’re interested in) to show you can do it. I think ultimately this question comes down to where you want to be, in Canada or the UK.

If I get into Ivey what school will offer me the most opportunity in life?
