Stanford Masters in Lieu of MBA?
If you've already made it to your industry of choice (private equity/venture capital), and there's no real need to get a brand-name MBA in the short-run (e.g. you don't need the placement or career office of a MBA program), would it make sense to do a Masters of Management Science & Engineering at Stanford for the pedigree if your undergraduate degree is from a non-target state school? Stanford allows you to do the program part-time while working and online, and the ultimate degree doesn't differentiate between part-time/online/on-campus/full-time students.
Will it help with pedigree?
I think it will help some, but not as much as a full-time program or an undergrad program would. How selective is the program for part-timers?
Your pedigree is going to be your professional experience. Your firm's name is going to say more about you than your degree in many ways.
If you've already made it to your industry of choice, why would you need to get a degree for pedigree?
