State of recruiting in the UK

Currently am an analyst at a BB and my brother is a warwick/LSE and have been hearing tons of stories on how more and more kids are trying to get an edge through applying as diversity or getting access to questions before interviews. Is this what it takes nowadays???

This is what happens when the finance soc leadership has found success doing it and thus recommend also the first years to do it. Apply as diversity they say! Guess what, they also subscribe to question banks and share it across. I hate this game and am at Warwick...

dang i need to tell my brother to get on some of this stuff, what do they use? like do ya'll just share questions internally, is there a bristol tracker equivalent of sharing questions?

Yes we share internally because some people take interviews earlier right and can share but also that sometimes gets rough when one person gets the offer and others might not so a bit of an incentive problem. Our club also tells people to subscribe to online question banks that keep a record of all the past quesitons and is supposedly used pretty commonly across schools

am at LSE and can confirm this is unfortunately exactly how it is. especially because questions do not change even when interviewing with a real question lol

I'm at LSE and my friends are so stingy... are your friends sharing questions? or is it a club? yea i know hte banks are lazy asf

not friends with anyone in banking minded things hahahah i just try to have a good time in life man

Love this. Funnily enough, its people like you who always do better and actually convert summers vs. the tryhard virgin sweats who only think about finance (usually grammar school background, extremely insecure, socially autistic, complete lack of charisma and oratory skills on the whole). See so many autistic virgin LSE types who try so hard and never convert, continously reapplying (they always leave their dates off their education section on linkedin, its very obvious and hilarious).

From my experience at a US BB.

not really worked for me in fairness as i haven't got a summer but still recruiting and will do a masters so should be fine

mindset for me is that i put the hard work in and will get something that i deserve in the near future

Two coming to mind from word of mouth – there was the incredibly autistic chinese girl with no social skills whatsoever (obviously failed to convert). The guy with his own fund seemed decent though,

Can confirm he did not get it. His team was very clear he is not going to.

But you guys are being harsh. He is super smart, just doesn't have the social skills.

THAT IS ABSURD A TAKE HOME??? i get it for PE firms but wow for as standardised as a process banking is this is IMO stupid how does this help you screen candidates better lol

Idea is that you have a week to do a case study, you get to see how the candidate thinks about deals strategically, show technical chops in practice (not just regurgitating 400Qs) and also they get to present it so you see the soft skills.

This is pretty late stage usually so I not really for screening
