Stern is just easier to place out of and being in NYC is fun, but ND is still a great school with better general culture. Talk to students at both to find out which one will be better for you.

Several discussions on here where you can find more details on this

Stern doesn't really have culture/community. It's extremely cliquey, filled with hardos, and lacks alumni support. Overall not a fun environment and students branch out of Stern to interact/be friends with more normal people. Pair this with the lack of campus and community of NYU in general, and you'll have a very depressing recruiting semester.

If school culture/community is a big thing for you, don't really recommend Stern. However, there is plenty to do in NYC and so many people to meet that you can very easily get away from Stern's toxicity. I know several people who landed top internships without being in x club or without spending everyday at the bloombergs in the library basement. Would say that people tend to either join finance clubs early on and stay in that community for the rest of their school years, or they realize clubs aren't for them and find a community elsewhere. Really up to you how you want to spend your years, but just saying there are workarounds to the shitty school culture.

Definitely speak with ND students to learn more about their school before making this decision, if you haven't already. To answer your question, if high finance is what you want to go into, I think Stern would be better.

I went to ND and can say the ease of placement is there. However, if you just want to go somewhere to place, go to Stern, you’ll fit in great with the professional culture. ND isn’t just another school that can work for everyone: you should only go to ND if you genuinely feel it is the right place for you. As anyone who went to ND will tell you, it’s a 40 year decision, not a 4 year decision.

I actually had few opportunities to experience the ND culture (thru a relative as well as a program), and I did enjoy their culture/vibe + I do kinda care about community and the alumni network

The only worry I have with ND is that I am an asian male at the end of the day.
It could be me just making up scenarios, but I am not sure if I will be ‘welcomed’ at ND as much as at Stern (which from what i know is more diverse)

I am not talking about the number of asian students since I actually have a hard time with intl asians since im from England, but im just worried that ND’s strength of community will not be there for me

It will definitely be there for you. I went there for a program and found myself talking to students from alllllll over. I’m not at Notre Dame but truly their student body is one of the kindest, smartest, and normal of the schools I have been too. Truly an amazing group of people there.
