take econ 101s or mid level finance/data science courses

Hi all,

I will be attending a school where there is a mandatory core curriculum. There is an social science requirement (econ or gov) and since I got 5s on my Econ/ gov politics AP exam, I can be exempted from these courses and take other core curriculum courses/courses in my major.

My question is, will I ever use the intro to econ class for IB/PE? Or should I focus my time more on data science/finance classes.

Will I have to use anything significant from intro to econ? I took AP econ freshman year-- i don't remember too much from the class
