Tips on MBA at Columbia Business School (2nd year PE Analyst at $100m fund in Myanmar)

Hello fellow investment professionals,

Could you kindly provide tips to gain MBA admission at a Columbia Business School?

I am a second-year PE analyst at a US$100m Growth Equity fund in Myanmar (Asia's Emerging). I would like to do MBA in 2023 at Columbia Business School, but I am afraid my UG GPA of 2.9 would be a major obstacle. I am trying hard to balance my low GPA with high GMAT. Kindly provide tips on how I can pass through low GPA. I am an international student.

Also, if anyone of you did MBA at Columbia, what was your experience like? Is it possible to do an internship at a PE fund in NYC while doing MBA

Thanks so much for you suggestions in advance,

Aung Si

Hello Aung,

I have a podcast on overcoming or at least mitigating the impact of a low GPA at https://blog.accepted.com/what-to-do-about-a-low-gpa/

Also, was your undergraduate grading system on the U.S. 4.0 scale? Or have you translated it? By the standards of the school you attended, you were grades good, mediocre, or below average?

Yes. CBS students have done internships at PE companies. CBS also has a program for "in-semester internships," which enables its students to intern white attending school.

You may also be interested in this recent podcast with a current CBS student, who came from financial services.  https://blog.accepted.com/elis-journey-to-columbia-b-school-and-his-pas… .
