Transfer to state school or stay at small-private school?

Hi hi, I'm going to make my question relatively quick and to the point. I'm currently at a small, private university in Florida and I'll be a sophomore this coming year. I've been getting urged to transfer to UF because I'm an accounting and finance major (double-major). So my question is, is it really worth transferring to a top school like UF in order to advance my career in finance/accounting? I know some people take college recognition seriously, which is really the basis on why I ask.

If it helps, I have a 3.8 gpa, which I plan on raising.

Thanks for the answers, I appreciate it!

What do you plan on doing with your finance accounting degree? If you're planning on doing IB and the like, you want to go to the one with the most seats on the street.

If I was you I would try and transfer to a top school (if you can afford it or get financial aid) rather than just UF if you're going to bother transferring.

If I recall correctly, UF has a pretty decent MSF program that places well. Don't think that is the case at the undergrad level. It might make more sense to stay put and instead focus on networking to be sure that your resume is seen come recruiting time. If you end up with no offers, UF MSF could be a good fall back option. This is not a well thought out plan, just throwing the idea out there.

As others have said, UF's undergrad business programs aren't exactly the most amazing in comparison to other state schools in Florida. The brand isn't exactly what it used to be, and transferring just to start your business core again isn't worth it. Honestly, if you can afford it, get out of Florida if you want to end up on the street. Everything around here is geared towards Real Estate or Accounting. You can definitely land a B4 gig in the Miami/Tampa/Orlando area if that's what you're interested in. If that's the case, you should consider switching to UF because it has the strongest alums in the state and the brand name carries well around the state, but not much outside of it. Just depends on what you want to do.

Thank you for your response! You said to get out of Florida if I wanted to end up on the street, which definitely is an option of mine. Any schools you would suggest?

I thought the top two FL schools are UF and New College of Florida.

Staying small private school can yield benefits--but it depends on if the school has the reputation for jobs nearby. Otherwise, UF is probably a safer bet--if you excel in UF, you'd get good chances
