Trinity College Dublin vs University College Dublin

Hello Everyone,

I applied to Ireland as the application process is fairly straightforward. I was wondering whether TCD or UCD would be considered target universities (they are after all the best in Ireland). I was also curious which one of them would be regarded as better for corporate finance and perhaps IB.

Any input is greatly appreciated!

In general, most people in the UK will be aware of Trinity College, but much fewer would know of UCD. It would depend on the course too.

Both are great schools but are probably only semi targets in London. Recruiting from these universities is much more course based than similar schools in the UK. STEM courses at either, Economics & Finance at UCD or MSISS at TCD place well in to IB. But other courses would require some leg work. One thing to note though is the Irish job market is very hot at the moment. There are limited roles in corporate finance and very few true IB positions but there are fantastic opportunities in tech, quant finance and others. Both of these universities would place excellently in to these industries in Dublin.

Thank you very much for this thoughtful response! You seem very well informed.

Would you think that Economics courses at middle russel group UK universities like Exeter, Cardiff and Birmingham would be perceived better in London?

It is illuminatin to know that the course is given such priority. Would you think that the courses below from TCD&UCD would be appropriate for corporate finance/IB?

I appreciate any comments and discussion very much.
