UK MFin programmes - Mixed Opinions
I am considering applying to masters programmes in the UK and have seen mixed reviews on their ROI and placement into IB and PE.
I wanted to gather some insight into whether it would be worth applying to these programs for someone with my background:
- Oxford MFE
- LSE MSc Finance
- Imperial MSc Finance
- LBS MFA
My profile:
- International student studying Economics at UK non-target uni (still a Russell Group)
- First Class/3.7+ GPA (in final year, expect to graduate with the same grades)
- IB internship and Big 4 Audit internship in India
- Expecting 700+ GMAT/ 650+ GMAT Focus
- Good ECs
Thank you in advance.
Oxford MFE Is by far the best but most expensive also the most competitive to get in.LBS MFA and lse MSc finance are still competitive for recruitment in high finance and has the advantage of being in London.Imperial MSc Finance is slightly less target but places well in London.
All 4 are worth applying to also should consider Warwick MSc finance as a safety. Also look at HEC ,st Gallen and Bocconi
Visa sponsorship is a big issue so you will not have the same outcomes as a British grad from those programs. I'd recommend gaining more experience in India or elsewhere first if you can. These "masters" are so short that you can't stack up off cycles, network, join clubs or anything to get a better shot when you graduate. Otherwise I'd recommend top non UK programs (hec, Bocconi, HSG escp etc.) which are more flexible and cost much less
