UNC Kenan Flagler or UVA McIntire
I was recently accepted into both UNC and UVA for undergrad. I plan on majoring in economics my first two years and then transferring into the business school by junior year. Which school is better for investment banking opportunities right out of college? Are there major differences in recruitment opportunities?
I don't know much about UNC, but I can vouch for McIntire.
McIntire's curriculum is geared towards investment banking and almost every single firm that you care about comes to recruit. There are a lot of clubs that you can join as a first-year that will make you really knowledgeable by the time recruiting season comes. UVA has a very large alumni base at all top firms and it really helps you out during the process. J.P. Morgan, for example brought almost 50 employees to their info session in the fall.
Hope that helps. Feel free to reach out to me with questions.
UVA
UVA is definitely better, but people definitely hype it up way too much on this forum. It's a solid state target school, but unless you're a white, fratstar, upper class finance major with a 3.9+, you won't be seeing the light of day in an NYC BB office.
I agree, UVA is really over hyped. UNC has very strong b-school. Did you receive any money from either school? If so I would just go with the money.
