University for IB

Hello Finance Bros, it would be great if you could give me some tips for my profile / the uni I should choose:

I’m 17 and have just finished high school in Germany (approx. top 1% of the students nationwide). Fluent in Italian, German, English. And I received an offer from LSE (AccFin), Bocconi (Finance), King’s, St. Gallen, Warwick

If there would be no shitty Brexit, I would definitely go to LSE. I already came to the conclusion that LSE and Bocconi are the best ones in the list. However, the approximate costs (incl. living costs) for Bachelor are in my special case very different (LSE 160k, Bocconi 90k). And my parents are not willing to pay for LSE, only Bocconi.

Therefore: Which uni should I pursue if I want to break into IB. I’m not sure yet where exactly I want to work. It sounds strange but my biggest dream is to work in Switzerland some day.

Do you guys maybe have some tips?

would definitely agree, but would also mention uni mannheim here. very strong peers and the best spring week placement this year…not to mention the investment clubs and network.

however, uni will not decide about your future, there’s a list of top (“target”) unis in DACH/EMEA region. and assuming that you will excel in any of those, you will definitely make your way into IB regardless of the university.

maybe some thoughts on the universities

HSG, probably on of the best if not best. highly regarded in both DACH and UK

UM, very strong in germany, as I already mentioned, and probably the best option if one don’t want to pay tuition fees

WHU, go for it if you’re considering founding one day. unprecedented the number one in the entrepreneurship space

FS, if you’re looking for an easy life regarding internships/working student positions + want the vibe of a big city —> frankfurt. further it has the location advantage of all BBs and Tier 2 (even some EBs) only being 15 min away with undergroung

Bocconi, very good placement in UK and well known in germany/switzerland but more focus on the uk or italy for internships etc.

UK…you know yourself
