UT Austin McCombs CBHP vs Northwestern
So my whole decision right now is between UT (I would do CBHP, Finance, and Math) vs NU (MENU + Economics). If I do get into MMSS though, it would be MMSS + Economics. I’m getting a full ride at UT, and I just need to figure out which school will set me up for the future. I want to do finance (not sure what specifically) and I just want to know what’s going to set me up recruiting wise, academics wise, etc so that I can secure the best possible place.
Based on the most helpful WSO content, here's what you need to consider when deciding between UT Austin McCombs CBHP (Canfield Business Honors Program) and Northwestern:
1. Recruiting Opportunities:
UT Austin McCombs CBHP:
Northwestern (MENU + Economics or MMSS + Economics):
2. Academics:
UT Austin CBHP:
Northwestern:
3. Cost Consideration:
4. Regional Placement:
5. Prestige and Alumni Network:
Recommendation:
If cost is a significant factor and you are open to starting your career in Texas or NYC, UT Austin CBHP with a full ride is an excellent choice. It offers strong recruiting opportunities, a robust finance community, and a debt-free start. However, if you are leaning towards a more quantitative or research-focused career and are drawn to the prestige of Northwestern, MMSS + Economics could be a better fit.

I know both schools well (younger sister @ NU, alum from UT myself). My honest take is if you come from enough money to afford NU, go there 100%. There are opportunities regardless of major given that there’s no undergrad business school. The finance clubs there place great, and it’s not as much of a rat race as UT just because of size
