UW-Madison Applied Security Analysis Program
Does anyone know anything about this program? It is small and supposedly selective, with the claim to fame that the 2nd years actively manage $40 million of the school's money. They place a lot of people in money management and sell-side research/Asset Management, but their students' resumes just don't compare to those of "target school" students.
So my question is, for those of you in AM/HF/mutual funds, what sort of reputation, if any, does this school have within the industry? Anyone know anybody who went there?
Thanks.
reputation is that school will get you laid multiple times by ridiculously hot girls and the party scene there is out of control. so ask yourself, are you more worried about getting your dick sucked or getting an ibanking job? hope this helps.
dude, i bet you're a player... lol! ....not!
i too have heard good things about UW Madison - especially if you want an Eq Research or buy side job.
That being said, it certainly isn't a top tier school. But who gives a crap?
I guess in a roundabout way this answers my question.
My friend who is an undergrad is one of two in the program that is not an MBA student. Very good program and the connections that you make are insane. Im an undergrad here currently. ask away, i might be able to help.
I am an undergrad finance major at UW Madison. After reading these forums, I am concerned that Madison doesn't have a good enough reputation to land solid IBanking jobs. What are your opinions?
Your concern is justified. It will be extremely hard for you to land an i-banking position. Make sure u get a top GPA, and be prepared to network hard to get a summer offer.
I've heard WI is respected but a def. non target.
Not that bad. We placed 13 people last year to mostly all bb firms. look up the IBC if you are interested in I Banking. That club has placed a good number of kids in the last 3-4 years. Madison is def. non target but you can get to wall street.

Hi All- looking to get some insight here about the program; looks like a great alternative to Columbia (although there's no real alternative to Columbia, this seems to be the next best thing).
Placements are solid- I'm not talking Robert Baird ER in Milwaukee either. Lots of reputable investment shops in Chicago, mid-west, and potentially east coast. I've heard this program is on par with top 15 b-schools. Thoughts?
In full disclosure and to keep it real I'm not M7 material.
No love?
Triday bump
Have you learned anything more about the program? I too am considering it.
Like Oregon, its teach to the CFA test. Decent placement
Spoke w admissions. Pretty solid and welcoming program
At this juncture in the road I have difficulty rationalizing the move. However, it is a solid investment that is highly recognized in the mid-west
