villanova vs uiuc

i am having a tough time making a decision between Villanova MSF and UIUC MSF. Can anyone share more information to help me to evaluate these two program?
I am an international student. So the employment situation is tough of course. The selection factors are placement, curriculum, and reputation.

@Matayo - no worries man. Always happy to help.

So just as a disclaimer, I am a Villanova alumni.

I would pick Nova. Couple reasons. Price - Nova is a great value. Placements - Nova has great alumni, OCR and historic placements. Location - you are basically within reach of Boston, NYC, DC and Philadelphia.

UIUC is a fine school though and will do well in Chicago. I hear the campus is beautiful also. Check out each school, you might feel more comfortable at one more than the other.

Thank you How about the curriculum? Uiuc program has a long history, and the quality of education is good as far as I know. As a nova graduate, would you please explain more about the courses in nova? You must have worked several years after attending nova MSF. How is the Nova MSF regarded in US? It seems that uiuc is more widely known than Nova. I don't know..........no offensive. I am from China. The Chinese students know more about UIUC, while Nova is nearly unknown and then poorly regarded. It really bothers me right now.

你别多关 “reputation” 这种东西 you need to look at the individual PLACEMENT of each of these programs

how many students go to UIUC? how many go to nova? how many from UIUC get IBD offers? how many from nova get IBD offers? then divide A by B, and that'll be a reflection of your chances at IBD, given you do well in the program what you should be concerned with is the yield of the aforementioned, not the reputation of the school

since you're chinese, i'm sure you can run the calculations yourself

I hate to be that guy...

I know people who have attended both programs. They are both great, but to be frank, you will be fighting a SERIOUS uphill battle to get a job as an international student at either of these schools. Since neither of these schools are targets, I imagine they get little BB recruiting (read: few firms that will actually sponsor you recruit there).

the fact is that while you haven't stated WHAT kind of job you're looking for, you will face a serious uphill battle just to be considered. Visa sponsorship is expensive, and unless you can graduate near the top of your class in either one of these places, your chances at a bulge bracket (assuming) are not fantastic. however, if you're open to other things like AM or equity research, then perhaps your odds improve

@"twigorth7" both schools actually are targets- targets being defined as OCR. perhaps not as much OCR as other schools with MSF degrees or whatever, but there are still a few. i know nova places decently into Cowen- must have strings or something

It seems like you've already made up your mind, OP. You're going to UIUC because it's more prestigious in China.
