I am in the process of applying to an MSc Finance course with the hopes of ultimately ending up as a financial analyst that specializes in mergers and acquisitions. I was just wondering if anyone could give me some advice on the application process.
Some background: I am going for MSc Finance rather than an MBA as I don't really have any relevant career experience; I have worked as a commercial accountant for around 1.5 years and I have been travelling the world for the last 2 years (exciting but I want to focus on my career properly now). I have just sat the GMAT and I got 660 (quant: 45, verbal: 35) and I understand this score isn't great but I am in between countries and I don't think I have enough time to resit before the application date closes (January 15th). Also my university wasn't the best institution (Nottingham Trent University) but I did achieve a first class degree, which when I converted to GPA ended up being about 3.76. And finally, since leaving my job at the end of 2013 I have pretty much been doing odd jobs with no career merit just to save up for the next step of my trip so while I have gained amazing life experience I don't think it will help my chances to much at getting in.
That is my profile and I was just wondering if anyone has been through this process who has any advice or tips? I would greatly appreciate it!
I don't think a 660 GMAT will be sufficient to get into SSE. From what I've seen, people who get in do have >=700
I know the "average" score for the candidates last year was 695 so I was kind of hoping a 660 would be sufficient?
What does it say on their site about minimum? Correct me if I am wrong, but wasn't Stockholm decreasing in rankings? Not saying don't apply there, but I always thought that the UK and the Netherlands had a lot of great universities; why not try again in the UK?
Look into Lund if you are set on Sweden. If I remember right, their deadlines were weird though..
