What are my options ?
Hi, Thank you for taking the time of reading my thread, I recently got a BBA with a specialty in Finance from an average university. I am currently looking to go to grad school to pursue my education in Finance but without any work experience, I am not sure of what formation I can aim for or what school I can attend. I was hoping to get some feedback and information about the program and school who could fit my profile. I will preferably want to go to schools in North America or Europe since I have family in those regions.
Profile Evaluation: Age: 26 GMAT: 640 ( Q44, V34, IR 7) - Looking to retake and aim for a better score. GPA: 2.00/4 ( A big stain on my profile with some exception for the class of Finance/Accounting/Stat/options and investment with the grade of A's or B's) Experience: none, only help out my dad with is business- not really relevant I guess for B-school Nationalities: French

A GPA of 2 is a pass (or Third class) degree in the UK and this will honestly leave you with VERY few options; even Aston and Kingston university ask for a 2:2 min. Since you are coming from little work experience, your grades and GMAT (which isn't bad) will be all that is looked at unfortunately. At this stage I would aim both for a solid GMAT (700+) and network your way into any sort of boutique (even 2 lonely dudes working from a Regus office) to gain some tangible experience which you can really leverage.
Thank you for the Feedback, I imagine that aiming for a school like Cass/Warwick or Hult (not really sure of that one) is too much of a reach?
First of all, in case you made the conversion from your grading system the GPA, did you make sure to double check the math? If so I am afraid that Cass and Warwick with your current profile are out of your options.
Regarding Hult my view might be very biased, but in my opinion that program it's not even worth half of the money it costs. On the paper, at first sight, seems to be quite good, their placements seem to rival only HYP according to one of their recruiter but I have been told by different people that it's crap.
For your options, I'll add to those presented by @The Pharma Guy the possibility to take another BSc. Maybe find one that will allow you to skip classes, working during the day and ending with much better chances of entering an MSc or an MBA. At that point, the GPA of the BBA would be one among the different weighting factors, and you will have a 2nd degree, eventual work experience, and your chances might even go up depending on your ability to sell a story about how you hustled your ass to that point in the essays
Thank you for the advice, I will start by retaking the exam in 3-4 weeks hopefully I will be able to improve my score enough. Do you have any idea if aiming for an MS in Finance could be better with my profile if I can raise my GMAT score to 700+?
