What's wrong with NYU

It seems as though everyone I have met at this school is hyper prestige obsessed. Is every competitive school like this? Are people you meet when full time from other schools more normal? How do people generally view kids that come out of NYU?

Despite the shills for NYU on this forum it’s not viewed as impressive/prestigious at all. It doesn’t give off that intellectual vibe that come from the ivys + top targets, but rather a pure machine churning out a bunch of IB NYC analysts (who don’t even get the top groups). I’m a little biased because the 1 NYU Stern kid in my group at a BB is a huge dickhead lol.

In terms of undergrad business schools specifically, it’s pretty much consensus that Wharton / Sloan / Ross / Haas are above it.

The vibe there is quite hardo, down to all the Stern kids sending identical networking emails. The internal competition is tough because there are only so many spots out of the same on campus interviews, only so many alums willing to be engaged/helpful etc.

Other schools vary but I would generally say NYU is one of the more internally competitive out there. At other top schools it's a good mix of people wanting IB, consulting, tech and other roles. NYU is very IB heavy.
