Which cornell school should I apply to?
Which cornell school has the most grade inflation/easiest/hardest to fail out of? hotel school? thanks!

Brother went to Cornell ILR, and I would say if you want to do IB its a pretty solid place to be. There are no "in house" financial service classes like investments/accounting etc, but a lot of real world finance/business classes. Recruiting is pretty solid, you can look at Linkedin and see Cornell ILR places well enough to individually be considered a target given its a small school (200 kids a grade) and still sends p high numbers to IB/S&T/ER/PB. It is very chill and tight knit more than the other schools and professors seem very invested in students. Not to mention with the ILR credit structure, you have 40 elective credits to take whatever you want and another 16 "ILR elective" credits that can be fulfilled by intro business classes like finance/accounting/marketing. Definately a great choice if you are from NY state and want a lower tuition but the same end result.
Dyson / AEM is the place you want to be at Cornell if you’re set on a career in finance. With that said, it’s also going to be the hardest program to get into (especially as a lot of seats end up being taken by recruited athletes). If you’re from NYS you get discounted tuition given it’s within CALS.
Other main options would include Econ within CAS, ILR, the Hotel school, or Operations Research in the Engineering school. Only ILR will give you the in-state discount if you’re from NY out of these options. For ease of grading, I’d rank as Hotel > ILR > Econ > Operations Research. For relevance for finance / recruiting I’d rank as Hotel = Econ > Operations Research > ILR. Overall it doesn’t really matter what your major is as you have equal access to on-campus recruiting and as long as you join organizations relevant to finance to prove out interest + maintain a >3.5 GPA, you’ll get interviews. ILR is in my opinion a bit of a scam in that they try to position themselves as a business program, but it’s not really the same level of business classes as in Dyson / the Hotel school.
Former ILR student, can attest that they kinda do frame ILR as an overall business program as opposed to the more people centered/historical side it really is. But all the same, ILR kids still recruit really well as its a Cornell school and as above echoed, get into business clubs and frats (full of ILR kids). Really just on you to get your finance classes in but it is entirely possible.
