After graduating from undergrad in 2017, I have spent 7 years working my way up the chain in real estate. I started out grinding on acquisition models and eventually worked my way up to sourcing new deals and managing the closing. The work has become less fulfilling and my curiosity has shifted towards asset management and portfolio management.
What is the path towards getting into AM and eventually becoming a portfolio manager down the road?
I am currently finishing up applications to business school. What is a realistic path I should try to go down? Can I get into a high level AM firm out of MBA or should I go sell-side ER to buy side?
Any thoughts or experiences to share on this idea would be helpful. Thanks!
