Anyone can do it Non-target to top London BB

I just wanted to put this out there, especially for UK applicants that may be feeling unconfident due to not being at an LSE, Warwick or Oxbridge that if you put the effort in you can get your dream role. Background, I got rejected by every spring week, wasn't part of a university finance society, had 1 prior internships in operations at a very small bank, and just got my offer for a summer analyst at a top BB in London. I had been rejected at the final round by two different BBs the previous summer and honestly applied this year on a whim expecting nothing to come out of it. Low and behold I made it to the final round AC competing with kids from top target unis and top boarding schools. But despite this managed to come out with an offer for a position 1000's applied to.

My advice for anyone else is believe in yourself, do not be a pessimist or procrastinate you truly want this career you will do anything to make it happen, do the Hire-Vues, the BS online assessments because you never know what may happen. Ensure your story of why IB and TMAY  is actually original and comes across as an innate passion for the industry, not just for the money ,and knowledge of what the bank you are applying for offers as well as keeping up to date with market trends and ensure you are studying your technicals like there is no tomorrow. You can make it happen. I always thought it was an unrealistic dream but here I am with an offer for next summer. Get your friends to grill you on mock interviews, this also really helped me especially for testing my market awareness. Best of luck to everyone attempting to break in during a disgusting job market. When one door closes go break down another.

its not that they are marked for non-conversion is just that they are usually set up to fail. Its a selection bias. Kids that are just not to the level get the internship and they fail to convert. Usually DEI.

GS is the exception because they don't recruit in that way,
