Finally broke in!

Good morning,

Hate to be this guy but I cannot contain my excitement.  After two years of applications, interviews, and rejections I managed to land my first IB gig.  I ended up getting a role as a lateral analyst.  Feels great as I have made it to the final round in other processes before and not gotten an offer.  Even was told by a senior on a team at the end of an interview that I should expect some good news and didn't get an offer.  I messed around as a highschooler (my fault) and ended up at a school with zero IB presence for undergrad.  I managed to land a role on a Corp Dev team out of school.  I used my time in Corp Dev to learn as much as I possibly could about the M&A process, learn the industry I was covering, and network as much as possible.  I knew my goal was to make it into IB so I tried to position everything I did as a step towards that goal.  For everyone out there struggling, it is easy to get down on yourself but keep busting your ass and applying!  Want to thank everyone on this site as it has been a great resource in my experience.  Saw someone on here say they framed their first offer letter.  I might just have to do the same.

Should we expect a post from you in about a year about how soul sucking IB is and how much you hate your life?

I’m fuckin around, this is huge. Congrats man. Well deserved

Nice mate. Its all about grit (and a bit of intelligence)...

Enjoy this time between gigs, delete LinkedIn, delete WSO, go and travel and completely reset for the 4-6 weeks you have off. Works a charm for when youre back and you can be fully focused.
