2017 Performance of Bank Market Making Desks
Does anyone here know how well certain market making businesses did in 2017 (by asset class not bank)? Also could you break down your responses whether it was a discretionary or systematic market making business you are referring to please.
Our desk target profit was to hit 60mm (Top 4 Canadian Investment Bank - Vol Desk in NYC), which we did. Of course, all of our exposures are delta hedged immediately but my strategy is all discretionary, believe it or not, and so are the guys on the desk, as well. Can't speak for other desks...
