ASMR YouTube Channel as a BB Analyst
My situation is kind of unique I would love some advice, I promise this isn't a troll.
I'm an incoming analyst at a BB, who received a return offer at the same bank last summer working in S&T. Through that I have some junior and senior people at the bank that I could definitely ask for advice on this aswell.
Basically, I also have an ASMR YouTube channel that I earn money from on the side and I need to report it on my U4 when I start. Other than being ASMR, the nature of the channel is me rambling about day-to-day stories and reviewing books I've read.
Basically, I'm trying to navigate how I tell my supervisor that I'm an ASMR YouTuber or if I should just delete the channel all togeather. I have over 15k subs and i make a little bit from ad revenue, but I don't do it for the money.
Trying to figure this out would really appreciate any advice!
You probably don't need to tell your supervisor.
Generally when reporting OBIs, in my experience it's compliance/risk/maybe higher management (if relevant enough) that gets involved and not your direct supervisor.
When I reported my OBI that's how it went, my manager only knows because I told him.
But yes you'll have to give those other people everything up to the link to the channel probably.
Thanks for the response. I checked my compliance departments policy and they do require manager notification unfortunately. Unsure how to proceed.
They might be notified but may not necessarily receive full details
I’ll have to check with HR, you think it’s actually realistic that my MD wouldn’t take a look if they saw their analyst had a YouTube channel OBE? 
1) As I said, they may not get full details.
2) Do you want to run this channel or not? If yes, just cross this bridge and deal with the consequences. If not then don't bother reporting it.
