Bank-Sponsored Trading Games - Relevancy?
How relevant are these?
JP Morgan had a Fantasy Futures trading game, Morgan Stanley also had a trading game. I'm wondering if placing well on these (top 10 for a couple of weeks in the nation or something) would look good on a resume/cover letter.
Obviously people win these by taking absurd amounts of risk and getting lucky, but it still shows an interest, right? And if you placed in the top 10 or so for a time that might show at least some abilities to trade?
I'd assume strong performance on one of these trading games is probably more valued than Personal account trading...correct me if wrong, as usual. i'm obviously a junior applying for SA positions lol.
ubs had one. i dont think any bank values personal account statements. they like to mold their hires, not hire people who think they already know how to trade. but banks do value their trading games.
Is it really true that personal trading experience can actually hurt you since they like to mold their new hires ? I feel that the stock market knowledge and experience trading in your account could still be very helpful. Any thoughts on this are welcomed. Thanks.
if i list JPM futures trading game on my resume, since thats one I participated in, other banks won't be offended if they see that on my resume....right? The competition was open to all University students, but I'm thinking the JPM name of the trading game carries value in itself.
does this really belong on a resume?
well, ask yourself, did you do well enough to merit putting it on the resume?
