Barclays S&T is generally regarded as strong, particularly in Fixed Income (FI). Based on previous WSO threads, Barclays is known for having a pleasant and friendly culture, which can be a differentiator compared to other bulge brackets like JPM, BoA, or GS. While JPM and GS are often seen as having a stronger overall footprint in the US market, Barclays holds its own in Europe and has a solid reputation in certain areas like FI.

Regarding the interview process, Barclays typically includes a Business Insight Assessment and Video Interview. This involves responding to scenarios such as receiving critical feedback on reports and addressing errors in a collaborative setting. The final stage, often referred to as the "Super Day" or Business Meeting, is an immersive task aligned with the business unit you applied to, lasting 3.5 to 5 hours. Preparation for these stages should include reviewing guides for digital interviews and practicing responses to behavioral and technical questions.

S&T isn’t like IB where some banks are objectively better than others. It is more important to look at the strengths of each individual product/desk, and then I guess you can form an overarching comparison from there. Barclays has a solid fixed income division, particularly with some of their HY and EM credit desks. However, people will generally still prefer JPM/GS as these two are consistently ranked top 3 in every product, so as a summer analyst you don’t have to worry about being placed on a neglected team. Barclays and some of the mid/lower BBs on the other hand will often have a few extremely desirable desks that may be top 3, while the remaining desks may be a bit weaker and less coveted
