Breaking into Trading in Canada - What are the best Grad programs for it?
To all the Canadians on WSO
just wondering what's the best grad program to do if your interested in trading or S&T?
Is an mba the best way to go? masters in finance? CFA?
The whole trading scene is kinda weak here compared to the states but i'd love some feed back from some veterns on this topic
?
Depends on what kind of desk you want to get onto. Whats your resume/research/gpa and undergrad major.
UW/UofT/Queen's/UBC all place well.
I dont; feel comfortable posting my resume, is there a way to do it to block out some stuff?
undergrad major poli sci
GPA: 3.4
Research: did a internship one summer on the buyside as a research intern
I'd love to try and break in again but i just feel like i;m shooting for the moon right now
all those skwls specifically mbas? or mfin?
Poli-sci major you cant get into any Mfinance in Canada. Will have to look to going south. All Canadian programs needs some calc, algebra, math and econometrics.
Those were all grad programs. For MBAs, Utoronto/Queen's/UBC/Schulich all get recruiting, Ivey/Utoronto best bets.
If you go the MBA route you can do a concentration in Financial Engineering at Schulich, but you would have to show that you have some of the basic math and programming skills.
I can't speak for the other 4, but this year RBC filled their global markets program exlusively from Rotman MBA and Ivey MBA.
