Cash Desk, Could this be a foot in the door???

Hi, I'm from non-targeted school with non-finance major, looking for a chance to break into the trading field. After researching my own & reading good posts in here, I had realized a great wall of reality.

However, I figure I would have to start from somewhere& saw cash desk position. I wanted to ask you fella seniors & experts to provide some feedback.

*Could this be a door to put my foot into the trading world? *How related this position to the traders? *And if this is not the way, do you guys suggest any?

thank you,

A cash desk can be a trading desk, or it can be a desk that figures out what the cash needs of the firm are and send that data to the people that actually trade. So i think it will depend on the firm.

Like UFO said though, I would apply anyway and find out more from the process.

Op- Def worth checking out.. I work on a cash funding desk, still a back office function (Though i'm sure there are countless jobs that have a similar name).. Gives you some good exposure with the treasury traders (manage all cash on the balance sheet) and whatever traders that manage your entity.

PM me if you'd like further info.

Would be a cash desk associate for PIMCO. According to the job detail - The team works closely with the Portfolio Management group to determine cash needs and either invests excess cash or raises cash to facilitate purchases.
