I'm curious about comp, specifically at reputable shops (traf, majors, Macquarie etc.). I'm interested in hearing more from juniors. Pls say what desk/commodity.

Base is 85k ~ 100k for all desks if you are a junior analyst.
I'd assume bonus is heavily correlated with desk's PnL?
Yes if you are a trader, no if you are in support functions
No, % of salary.
Yes, but no. Many firms (banks, large institutions) structure it so there isn’t a huge variation between desks. Smaller shops/traders there is a lot of variability and % tied to PnL.
Merchandiser with a little over 1 YOE trading Wheat, Corn and Beans at an ABCD in the southern mid-west. Making $82k base with a $16k bonus this year.
As a 1st year trader natural gas - $155k base + 50-75% bonus
How long did it take you to get a seat and what type of firm are you at? (bank, prop shop, major etc.)

That's a great number for a 1st year trader - roughly on par with what banks pay their Associates (2-3 yrs exp)

Base salary in Switzerland:
Junior traders: CHF 100-130k
Junior operators: CHF 70-95k
Trade finance is about the same as operations
Don't really know about other desks

Brokers it's CHF 50-70k base 1st year. Mind you this is right out of undergrad so few years ahead of traders.
