Commodities Desks at Banks
I know trading houses have been buying up commodities businesses from banks over the last few years, and I was wondering which banks still have dedicated commodities desk. More specifically, I am interested in hearing which banks still have physical trading operations, versus purely financial commodities desks
MS, GS still have various physicals trading desks. The Canadian Banks do some physicals ( I know Scotia is big in power, and TD is big in gas). I dont know much about metals or ags tho. I would look at going to a major or trading house if you want to get into energy. The Banks run very lean and its hard to get a spot esp. with FICC in the toilet right now.

Hi all,
Could those on commodities desks (or those who know), kindly shed some light on some or all of the following regarding these desks. Given, much of it will be firm-specific, but your insight would be useful, nonetheless.
for different commodities, what constitutes an average or large volume?
is the business more client-driven or prop.?
and going forward, what are the hot commodities: agric., oil, metals, weather?
finally, any interview experiences from those who joined the desk as graduate hires.
Thanks.
