Consulting to trading
Hello,
I'm a first year consultant at a large consulting firm (BCG, McKinsey, Bain,...) in Belgium.
I have a masters degree in mathematical engineering, and i was wondering what my chances are to get into trading at a BB bank?

I'm curious about his/her chances too...
I'd think you could hit up quant jobs if you took the time to teach yourself some finance...Out of curiosity, why are you leaving MBB only 1 year in, especially given how the Euro zone economies are faring right now?
I'm looking for a more math oriented job, and consulting isn't quite the fit for me. I heard that jobs in structured finance were very math oriented, anyone any information on that matter?
I also wondered what the views in the US were on a Master of Science in engineering, because over here it is considered the hardest degree you can pursue, but I don't know the system in the US.

A masters in engineer is almost a requirement for jobs in Engineering. If you only have a BS/BE, you'll be asked to take classes towards your masters. In terms of trading, get an MBA or a masters in econ.
Would an MBA be necessary for a quant job?
No. But if you stay at Bain, you'll go to Harvard Business School in two years.
maxc is speaking figuratively of course. "2 years" and "hbs are used quite loosely haha.
agree with him on sticking around at mbb though, unless it's unbearable bs for you.
get into a top b-school, get into bb trading.
jeans, what exactly do you want to do in trading?
if you want to be a quant, you might want to go for an mfe or something similar. princeton, haas, cmu, chicago, etc. i'm guessing you have a competitive profile. these are expensive degrees though.
can u get into trading after 25 ? i think its possible but you wont perform well. ..
