they dont do a lot in houston so trading, private bank and banking. none are in same location.

exit ops in trading are not like banking. you want to stay if you can.

typical ops are promotion to associate, b school or leave and do something else.

trading is not like banking. your exit options are not as great and trading more or less only helps if you take the same job elsewhere

My uncle was a pretty successful power trader from...guess where else most traders in Houston come from... He is now a senior executive of business development at a pretty big power company (similar to exelon) . So he did leverage his knowledge in power from trading to get a job in the industry.

I imagine if you trade a product, you can most likely leverage your knowledge to find a good gig in the sphere.. but I am not sure of course.

thats great kid but what I meant was you dont have a college - banking for 2 years - pe or b school route like you do in banking. The exit ops are up to you not a proven process. I know ex traders doing a lot of stuff but many created their own path

hey I didnt mean to offend you or contradict what you say. I am just trying to say that opportunities are always there and exit ops are what you make of your experiences. It is up to you to leverage your specific knowledge to getting what you want. A less defined path =/= dead end. After said company blew up and prior to my uncle making the transition, he had to drive back and forth between Houston and San Antonio almost every other day for a job that he didn't want to be doing for 2 years before he dug himself out of that hole.
