Desks that have longest survivability / ability to adapt?
Hello all - in your opinion, what S&T desks have the greatest ability to stave off automation from eliminating the need for substantial human intervention, and which have the most flexibility to adapt to change? Why?
Obviously complicated or OTC products are going to need some kind of human touch, but I have heard many negative thoughts on FX, Equities (including all the sub desks) at least consolidating into a smaller area, and even MBS and credit. I'm thinking that basically anything flow trading/spot based could go away, but maybe the derivatives desks stay?
Any thoughts on what would be the BEST opportunity to jump into now, all else equal?
Thanks in advance.
Good question, interested to see what some experienced members have to say. I spent the summer in S&T at a BB and it felt like it was a matter of time until only 1/3 of the floor remained.

Bump - would definitely like to hear more feedback on this one.
