Usually when you start someplace full time, your compliance asks you for any accounts you may have. Mine monitors mine everyday, for my purchases/sells.
Actually, everyone is wrong so far. Unless you work in the FX department it is typically fine. The forex market is an unregulated market and does not pose any risk to a firm unless you are in S&T and have a mandate to participate in that market.
Also trading FX is extremely simple during work. Get a mobile app and throw a trade on or keep an eye on positions, the forex market is open 24 hours a day and only closes at 4 PM Friday with a reopen at 5 PM Sunday. You could be entirely active outside of work hours.
I suggest everyone in this thread reread their compliance policies. The BB I worked at and the MM I work at now both make no mention of it outside of the FX teams.

To me the term "day trading" implies trading throughout the day, while at work.

1.No, it is not allowed. 2.How on earth do you think you'll be able to day trade while working?

Always run everything through compliance first.
