Exits for MBS/CMBS/Securitized trader
Obviously staying on the sell-side and being the head of the desk is, in some eyes, the exit. Though, I'm wondering about juniors who learn the products on the sell-side and then go to the buy-side after a few years. Do many hedge funds hire from MBS desks? Is working at a money manager still a good role? What about working for an insurance company rolling paper or matching liabilities? --- How does comp compare for these? What other exits should be considered?
Thanks

Curious as well, currently in a similar seat. Is it possible to move into a securitization banker role on the IBD side? Currently do not do any modeling in my trading role though.
Mind DMing me? Would love to speak to you about your role
