I do not agree with this. Natural gas does so much more than everyone thinks. In order to stray away from Oil/Gas, society would have to become 100% renewable. With current infrastructure/technology this isn't feasible. It will be at least 50 years until natural gas becomes the new coal. Yes, the world is starting to shift away from natural gas with a ton of new legislation, but natural gas is much more valuable than everyone is led to believe. With constant increase in global energy consumption, renewable energy will take decades to catch up.

Nat gas is here to stay. It's considered the bridge for non-renewables to renewable transition that will take quite a while. Go reference almost any non-renewable commodity demand forecast. What I don't understand are these people who try to ban nat gas from cities to use more electricity... that is produced with nat gas and coal..

Considering the amount of investment going into America's Nat Gas infrastructure/grid and distribution systems, I agree with most of the sentiment of users here. In fact, I believe it could be even cheaper in the long run.

Outside of government ordained incentives to push renewables, look at where the actual "global warming" issue comes from: It isn't Jane & Joe's energy usage in Idaho during the winter. It is industrializing 3rd and 2nd world countries which 1. Have no incentives to play by global climate rules and 2. Are 20+ years from making such infrastructural changes. A collaborative effort to influence every Westernized country to stop having kids, downsize their homes, and switch to solar is not going to make a long run difference when literally more than half of the world's population is having 10 kids, contributing to 80% of the worlds water pollution, and / or has such non-existent regulations that you can vacuum bricks from thin air.

All these pipeline projects killing volatility in phys markets....

Thanks Atlantic Sunrise ....

Edit: As much as i would love to believe that its not as easy as everyone thinks to phase out natural gas, articles like these being published everyday about phasing out fossil fuels within the next 30 years is definitely a cause for concern

When renewables and batteries reach price parity with natty, i can see a dramatic shift towards that sector that while may not eliminate natural gas as a whole, will have dramatic effects towards shrinking the industy

The caveat being demand over the next few decades will be driven by China and India and other countries that will move on to the development phase. The talk of renewables is mainly in developed nations. I think the developing nations won't care that much about renewables because for them getting electricity to every one's home is the first priority. This can be seen by the ever increasing demand for coal , again, in China & India even though the west is moving away from it. I think Nat Gas exporters are finely placed for this transition.

But what do i know about the future and may be completely wrong.
