Global Macro Interview Help
I was wondering if anyone happens to have any resources to prepare for a junior role at a global macro fund? Looking for resources on the technical/markets/current news questions
If I were you I'd know what the Global Macro HF Index did YTD, last year, and the past 5 years (check HFRI). I'd also know the different between discretionary and systematic global macro. Those are the basics I would say.
I would encourage you to look at Marketaxess.com. It has all of the relevant data and market news for FI & Rates. Metronorth covers the rest well.
For Current events - Know all the major stories in each region. Know the French election, what the ECB is up to, any stories in Asia, LATAM, BRICS and other EM. Anyone you interview with is going to have a really good political understanding of the world, so that's an easy non technical conversation you can have if you understand it as well. I also recommend knowing all the major 10Ys, and corresponding inflation, & GDP growth numbers.
Any resources you use specifically to help you keep/catch up on current events? I like FT and Foreign Policy, but would love to see what everyone else follows
