Got a new job ; Colleague says our team has 0 growth opportunities. Did I screw up?
It's been 3 months into this role where I do trade confirmations for a physical commodity on our desk for traders. I was quite motivated initially when I was onboarded. Fast forward a month, my colleague comes up to me saying how shitty this team is and that there's no growth opportunities. She said I am still young and ambitious and should look elsewhere if I want to succeed career wise.
After observing my team and prior candidates who held my current role, it seems all of them are older woman who are near their retirement. Meanwhile if I see the scheduling teams, they're filled with young driven guys with proper backgrounds/experience.
I was initially hired thinking this would be a lucrative middle office role but it seems very administrative in nature.
Should I start reapplying and jump ship? everyone around me is telling me to spend a year here and evaluate.
