Got Screwed Over

Hello Monkeys,

Need some input here. Ignore my username.

I am a 2nd/3rd year analyst in Prime/Platform sales @ a BB. Was fun at first but now feels like watching paint dry and I am itching to work in a 'real' market making sales role in Fixed Income

FX/Rates was looking to hire a junior. With excellent performance reviews, I pitched myself and made a great impression. Boss was supportive and said lots of nice things, but real help was a guy on the desk I really relate to. All looked set for a smooth transition.

This all made the mid-career hire VP on my team lose face - I had been increasingly taking over their client coverage and I think my boss stepped on their toes in vouching for me.

Then VP on my team went out and turned everyone against me, saying that I am incapable/lack work ethic/etc and I am back to square one. Move is off as the desk MD got cold feet.

Boss is sympathetic but nothing they can do. Boss also has little clout in firm and is not highly regarded.

I am thinking that all I can do is wait around, keep selling myself where possible, and hope opportunity strikes again.

Any advice for how to deal with this? I don't mind staying put but now have a toxic VP + a supportive boss but one who is not highly regarded.
