graduate trading programs
hello everyone, this is my first post here on WSO. i've been a lurker here for a few years. but i wanted some advice on possible options for me. i want to become a trader and i need advice on some graduate trading program routes.
a little background info: ba in economics from a large public school (third tier), graduated with a 2.7. have not taken calculus (that shows how strong our econ program is ey?). I'm not dumb, i was just unmotivated in school. but i had a 3.8 one semester and a 3.6 the other. just too deep of a hole to get out of. also i aced intermediate micro along with other upper division econ courses.
i worked for a year for the govt doing contract work, didn't like it and i quit and did some vagabonding for 8 months. now i'm 24, turning 25 next may and i know that i want to be a trader. i also just recently blew up my $5k trading account trading mini ES and crude oil contracts. after three margin calls my account is worth around 400 bucks now. i had no idea wtf i was doing.
i know there are a few schools in the US with simulated trading rooms. i just looked at hofstra's business school and they have a trading room. i would like to enter a graduate program and learn how to trade. hofstra has on their mba website that the minimum for acceptance is a 3.0 ugpa and a 550 gmat. i have not taken any graduate placement tests.
do you guys have any suggestions on what to do for someone in my position? also, please let me know if you have any info on other school's with simulated trading rooms.
if you want an MBA to get you into trading youre going to need to look at Columbia or Chicago, or Tulane for energy trading
